Look forward and continue our fight, Bung tells Sabah Umno on its 33rd anniversary

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin (pic) has called on Umno members and leaders in this state to no longer linger with the bad episodes the party has experienced, but look forward and focus on the struggles for the people.

In his message released in conjunction of the 33rd anniversary of Umno being established in Sabah on Wednesday (Feb 21), he said they should fight for issues that the government did not provide concrete solutions to like provision of infrastructure.

“We no longer need to look back (at the sad episodes) … In conjunction of the 33rd anniversary of Umno setting its foot in Sabah, I hope we focus on strengthening our unity to bring the party forward in overcoming challenges especially in facing the coming state elections.

“Sabah is rich with natural resources which needed planning and concrete actions from the government, so they can be utilised to generate economy and for the people’s wellbeing.

“The people today can no longer be influenced by slogans that may be catchy but failed in their executions,” Bung Moktar stressed.

He said it was important that their strength and unity among leaders be translated into a teamwork concept to ensure Umno stays relevant in Sabah.

“With the teamwork spirit among Umno leaders and members in Sabah which is estimated to be over 700,000 at present, this togetherness is the main reason why the party is still relevant despite being hit by various challenges (in the past), including those who wanted the party’s influence to be reduced,” he explained.

Bung Moktar also noted that during Umno’s experience being the Sabah state government for 28 years previously, they were able to bring many good developments for the people and was able to maintain political stability.
